Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker Review Summary

The Vremi Moka Pot may be as basic as coffee makers get, but it does its job pretty well and brews rich, delectable moka coffee — which has been popular for almost a century — without breaking your bank account.

One of the most affordable moka pots available, this model is all about the basics, proving that good java doesn’t have to be expensive. Its aluminum body conducts heat, so the pot quickly gets the water boiling, which allows the brewing process to finish in as little as five minutes.

This coffee machine has a small footprint, plus it’s an earth-friendly appliance; there are no pods or disposable filters that take up space in landfills, just ground coffee and hot water. It won’t hog all your counter space, and it’ll be ready for the next pot after a quick clean up with some soapy water.

Vremi is a relatively new company that sells kitchenware and cookware, including small kitchen appliances. The New York-based company prides itself on providing affordable options for people on a budget.

  • Extremely affordable price
  • Heat-resistant handle
  • Quick brewing process
  • Easy to clean

    • Not compatible with larger induction cooktops

Features and Benefits of the Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker

Now that you’ve had a proper introduction to the Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker, it’s time for a closer look. Here are some of my favorite features of this device.

    Traditional Design

The Vremi Moka Pot relies on the traditional moka pot design. Its body is made from aluminum, using eight sides that perfectly disperse heat throughout the device. This helps create a concentrated aroma and taste that distinguishes moka coffee from any other brewing method.

Vremi only offers its moka pot in one size: large enough for six espresso cups. An espresso cup equals about 1.5 ounces, so it shouldn’t be confused with a regular cup size of eight ounces. This coffee maker is available in traditional silver or shiny black.

    Small Footprint

Literally and figuratively, the Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker has a very small footprint. You won’t need much space on that kitchen counter, especially compared to an automatic espresso machine. Then when you’re done with your daily java, just stash it in your kitchen cabinet.

These devices are also environmentally friendly, they are not electric, and don’t use pods or paper filters. There’s very little waste, particularly when a moka pot is used over an open flame to brew coffee. If you thrive on being green, this may be a fantastic choice for you.

    Quick Brewing Process

One of the perks of the Vremi Moka Pot is its fast brewing time. Because this appliance is made from aluminum, it conducts heat and will quickly reach the necessary temperature. Its eight-sided design allows for quick heat dispersion throughout the pot.

In about five minutes, you’ll be pouring your own delightfully hot beverage. Brewing time is often less than the time required to use a complicated espresso machine or drip coffee maker.

    Easy Cleanup

The Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker is easy to use, so it’s only logical that it should also be simple to clean — and it is!

Cleaning the appliance is a straightforward, uncomplicated process. Just take it apart to clean with slightly soapy water and a soft cloth. Then set it aside to dry completely before putting it back together.

You should never use abrasive cleaners on your moka pot or scrub it roughly. It should also never be put into the dishwasher, as this can damage your coffee maker. Apart from that, maintenance involves periodically inspecting all parts to make sure they’re still in good condition.

What Do Users Say About the Vremi Moka Pot?

I think the Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker is a solid starting point in the world of moka pots. However, you shouldn’t just take my word for that. I’ve looked through some other Vremi moka pot reviews to give you a more balanced viewpoint.

People who have purchased the Vremi Moka Pot recognize it for what it is — an affordably priced moka pot that does a decent job of brewing coffee. Most users are pleased with their purchases. It’s not the best on the market per se, but it gets the job done.

For the most part, users are happy with the coffee brewed. They particularly like how quickly this moka pot works, and that they can have a cup of joe in hand within just five minutes. Its small size is also a definite plus if you’re limited on counter space.

Owners of this model appreciate its similarity and original moka pot design. Whether this model actually works with induction cooktops seems to be somewhat questionable, though. Vremi states it works with induction burners less than four inches in diameter, but that doesn’t always seem to be the case.

There have been some complaints about the Vremi Moka Pot, usually regarding how its pieces fit together. The spout is quite narrow, making it difficult to pour coffee without spilling. Additionally, some complaints note liquid leaking from the pot itself. However, even people who complained acknowledge those flaws don’t necessarily outweigh its low price tag.

Alternatives To The Vremi Moka Pot

Undoubtedly, the Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker has many great features, but maybe you’re just not feeling it. If that’s the case, I’ve found some alternatives that you might fall in love with.

The Bialetti Express Moka Pot harkens back to the original Bialetti design. Like the Vremi Moka Pot, it’s made from aluminum and is similar in size. However, the Bialetti Express Moka Pot has a more expensive price tag.

    Not compatible with induction cooktops

A patented safety valve regulates steam and pressure

Brews six cups of coffee, as does the Vremi version

The LuxHaus Stovetop Espresso Maker, at nine cups, is larger than a Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker. It’s about twice what the Vremi model costs, but it’s crafted from stainless steel, rather than aluminum, and works with all cooktops.

    Heat-resistant handle

Durable stainless steel will not rust or wear down

    Includes a lifetime warranty

The Coffee Gator Espresso Moka Pot is slightly larger than the Vremi Moka Pot and will brew 12 ounces of coffee. It’s priced in the same range as a Vremi model, but also includes one pair of three-ounce stainless steel espresso cups.

    Crafted from cast aluminum

The handle stays cool to the touch

    Includes two espresso cups

Granted, the Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker isn’t the most luxurious moka pot available, but it is a sound, budget-friendly coffee maker. It’s not difficult to use, plus you won’t need to spend all your money to get java that tastes great.

Bearing a striking resemblance to the original moka pot design, this model is made from aluminum. The metal’s heat conductivity and an octagonal design combine to create bold, espresso-like coffee in around five minutes.

This device has a rubberized handle that resists heat. It’s available in black or silver, but it does not come in other sizes. However, it can be used on small induction burners, unlike many other aluminum moka pots.

While the quality of construction seems to be inconsistent, sometimes leading to leaks, the consensus is you simply can’t beat the value that comes from this device. This model is ideal for someone who wants to try moka coffee, lacks counter space, or wants a small, portable coffee maker.

    Vremi Stovetop Espresso Maker FAQs

What Is the Best Grind for a Moka Pot?

A medium to medium-fine grind is recommended for the best results.

Are Aluminum Stovetop Espresso Makers Safe?

Yes, when used properly, stovetop espresso coffee makers, also known as moka pots, are perfectly safe. They should not be left unattended when in use, but as you can brew coffee in just five minutes, you won’t be stuck in the kitchen for long.

Can You Make Tea in a Stovetop Espresso Maker?

Certainly! Just follow the steps for making coffee and use loose tea or tea leaves in the filter instead of ground coffee.

Do Stovetop Espresso Makers Make Crema?

Not exactly. Crema is really only created with espresso made with an espresso machine. Moka pots brew coffee that’s similar to espresso but created with less pressure and the coffee is not quite as strong.
